Skiing in Combloux: the Portes du Mont-Blanc across the road
The slopes begin opposite the building. You take your skis from your locker in the building's ski room, go down in the lift, cross the road, fifty metres on foot, and click into your skis. The ski school meeting point is three minutes away, the ESF (French ski school) office five, and the Beauregard gondola five.

The Portes du Mont-Blanc ski area
Combloux, Megève-Jaillet, La Giettaz and Cordon: 100 km of slopes between 1,200 and 1,930 m, 63 runs (10 green, 17 blue, 28 red, 8 black), 29 lifts and 11 drag lifts. A ski area geared to families and intermediate skiers, with no queues, wooded on the lower slopes and with Mont Blanc facing you across the whole upper part. 2026-27 season: 19 December 2026 to 21 March 2027.
The Beauregard gondola, with 10-seater cabins, opened in winter 2025-26. It replaces a chairlift that ran for forty seasons, and because you board while the cabin is stationary, it is much easier for ESF children and beginners to get up the mountain. It leaves from the base area at La Cry.
The base area at La Cry
the "L'Ours des Prés" beginners' area with magic carpets, the "Les 7 Nains" green runs, the ESF chalet, the Piou-Piou snow garden and a sledging area for little ones. Higher up, the boardercross and the La Croix snowpark, and the red and black runs of Le Christomet, the highest point of the ski area at 1,930 m.
Évasion Mont-Blanc
With the Évasion lift pass, the ski area grows to more than 400 km: Megève (Rochebrune, Mont d'Arbois, Côte 2000), Saint-Gervais, Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce and Les Contamines, 110 lifts, 232 runs between 1,100 and 2,350 m. The Princesse gondola (Demi-Quartier), which goes up to Mont d'Arbois, is 7 minutes by car from the building; the Bettex gondola in Saint-Gervais 25 minutes; Les Contamines 27. Évasion 2026-27 season: 12 December 2026 to 11 April 2027.
Skiing Megève, via La Princesse
For a day on the Mont d'Arbois, the largest of Megève's three ski areas, the easiest way is by car: the Princesse gondola at Demi-Quartier is 7 minutes from the building (3.5 km), with 900 free parking spaces at the bottom. It goes straight up to the Mont d'Arbois, whose runs link to Saint-Gervais and Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce over the Mont Joux. Rochebrune and Côte 2000 are reached from the centre of Megève, 15 minutes away, by the Rochebrune cable car. You need the Évasion Mont-Blanc pass, or the Évasion day included in the 6-day Portes du Mont-Blanc pass. → Where to stay for skiing in Megève
Other resorts within a short drive
Saint-Gervais – Le Bettex, the southern gateway to the Évasion area, 25 minutes; Les Contamines-Montjoie, on the same Évasion pass, 27 minutes; Chamonix and its high-altitude areas, Brévent-Flégère and Grands Montets, 36 minutes. In the Val d'Arly, the Espace Diamant (192 km of runs) starts at Praz-sur-Arly, 17 minutes away. Further afield, La Clusaz and Le Grand-Bornand beyond the Col des Aravis, and the Grand Massif (265 km, Flaine) via the Arve valley. Enough for a change of scenery one day in the week, before coming back to ski at the end of the road. Skiing in Chamonix →

Frequently asked questions
How close are the slopes, really?
Fifty metres: you come down in the lift, cross the road, and click into your skis. So there is a road between the building and the snow, and we would rather say so clearly: fifty metres is about thirty seconds, skis in hand.
What is the difference between the Portes du Mont-Blanc and Évasion Mont-Blanc passes?
Portes du Mont-Blanc: 100 km, Combloux-Jaillet-La Giettaz-Cordon, €52.50 a day. Évasion: more than 400 km, including Megève, Saint-Gervais and Les Contamines, €65 a day. For a family week with children who are learning, the Portes du Mont-Blanc pass is more than enough, and it includes one Évasion day.
When does the ski area open?
From 19 December 2026 to 21 March 2027 for the Portes du Mont-Blanc; Évasion Mont-Blanc from 12 December to 11 April.
Can I ski to Megève from Combloux?
Yes, via Le Jaillet: the ski area is continuous between La Cry and the Jaillet gondola in Megève. Rochebrune and Mont d'Arbois are not linked to Le Jaillet on skis; you get there by car (7 minutes to La Princesse) or on the Meg-Bus from Megève.
Is there artificial snow?
Around a hundred snow cannons cover some 12 km of runs in Combloux, including the run back down to the resort.
Where can I hire skis?
There are five shops in Combloux, including Mabboux Sports and Sport 2000 Marin Sports, our two partners, where our guests get 20% off. Book before the school holidays.
