Road cycling in Combloux: the Domancy climb, the cols, and the Tour de France time trial
The Domancy climb. 2.5 km at 9.4%, between Sallanches and Combloux. This is where Bernard Hinault won his world title in 1980, and where the stage 16 time trial of the 2023 Tour de France was decided, Passy → Combloux, on 18 July 2023: 22.4 km, 650 m of climbing, won by Jonas Vingegaard 1 min 38 s ahead of Tadej Pogačar — the gap that decided the Tour. The course is waymarked as a cycling route; the finish was in the village.

The 2027 World Championships
From 24 August to 5 September 2027, Haute-Savoie hosts the UCI Cycling World Championships, in every discipline. The men's elite road race is held at Sallanches-Domancy on 29 August 2027 and the women's on 5 September, on a circuit that includes the Domancy climb; mountain biking is at Les Gets and the road time trial in Annecy. The cols
From Combloux via Megève: the Col des Aravis (1,486 m, about 20 km) and the Col des Saisies (1,650 m, about 30 km via Flumet and Notre-Dame-de-Bellecombe); and via the valley, the Col de la Colombière (1,613 m, about 35 km via Le Reposoir). Les Contamines and the Val Montjoie for a flat ride with an uphill finish. Megève–Le Bettex–Saint-Gervais for a loop with 2,000 m of climbing without leaving the Pays du Mont-Blanc.
Practical information
Road bikes for hire at Ski and Bike and Riding Zone in Combloux. Lockable bike rooms in the building, and the lock-up garage in the car park for Les cimes de l'alpage. Traffic on the D1212 between Sallanches and Megève is heavy in season; the small roads between the hamlets (Combloux – Cordon – Sallanches, Combloux – Demi-Quartier via Les Frasses) are quieter.
